There is no better place to study the evolution of the horse than the Messel Pit! The focus is on primitive horses and their evolution, which is closely linked to climate change.

School programme & Workshop
Our offerings are based on the curriculum of the state of Hesse and can be booked in two formats:
The school programme lasts two hours and is more educational and informative. The program takes place exclusively in the mine.
The workshop lasts a total of three hours and combines a one-hour mine tour with a two-hour practical module for active participation. Only bookable from March to October.
