Since 2020, several forest artworks have been created on the grounds of the Messel Pit.
The works are being realized and continuously expanded by the Association for International Forest Art.
Es flüstert stille Ewigkeit
Im Rahmen der Sonderausstellung »Messel 30+« entwickelte Regina Frank das Kunstwerk »Es flüstert stille Ewigkeit«. Neun urzeitliche Gesteine, deren Entstehung bis zu über 560 Millionen Jahre zurückreicht, bilden eine Landschaft um einen menschlichen Körper aus PETG – dem Kunststoff handelsüblicher Wasserflaschen, von denen jede Minute weltweit eine Million entsorgt wird. So verweist die Skulptur auf geologische Sedimentation und diverse Zeitlichkeiten.
Was wäre, wenn Steine sprechen könnten? Die Gesteine erzählen als unterschiedliche Charaktere ihre Geschichten und öffnen den Blick auf Zeiträume weit jenseits menschlicher Dimensionen…
It Whispers Silent Eternity
As part of the special exhibition »Messel 30+«, Regina Frank created the artwork »It Whispers Silent Eternity«. Nine prehistoric rocks, formed up to over 560 million years ago, create a landscape around a human figure made from PETG, the plastic found in standard water bottles, of which a million are discarded worldwide every minute. In this way, the sculpture alludes to geological sedimentation and diverse temporalities.
What if stones could speak? The rocks, acting as distinct characters, share their stories and open our eyes to timeframes far beyond human comprehension…
